lady_coyote This cover is so well done, and the female vocals are something I never knew I needed. Good choice of the two songs, and the digital flubbery at the beginning of sweet leaf is my fav, though it weirds out others when I share the album. I hope they continue to jam together

Saffron Robe The trouble with covering Black Sabbath is that it is either nigh on impossible to improve on the original, or make the cover interesting enough to complement the original. This band strike the perfect balance between the two.

Eric K I didn't believe I would like Deradoorian doing Ozzy. How stupid of me. It is not the same as Mira Billotte singing "Lord of This World" way back in the hey-daze of Quix*o*tic. But what could possibly match that? (Maybe Beth Gibbons doing "Black Sabbath" as a guest with Gong... Hey, only women can pull off Ozzy. Go figure.) Favorite track: Sweet Leaf.

Cosmographer My opinion on this is completely useless since I will buy anything Sabbath related anyway. That said, cool performances that once again showcase how many insanely talented people have a soft spot for the original, cavernous Sabbath.

Plus, Fairies Wear Boots have a really weird riff, underrated as fuck. Nice rendition here. Favorite track: Fairies Wear Boots.

Okay, I love it mostly cuz Sabbath, duh, I can't deny. But the assembled members of the Black Sabbath Cover Band Rehearsal Committee and Very Late Breakfast Time Support Society pack their 'Sweet Leaf' w/ a surprisingly heavy thumb. Angel Deradoorian, in particular, deserves a Klondike bar or two. She steps up to a classic and OWNS THAT SHIT. For a few minutes anyway! Will not likely change the course of history, but good times = good times.

BSCBR is a group of Black Sabbath lovers hailing from New York City. The group consists of Brad Truax (Interpol), Mick Barr (Ocrilim, Krallice), Greg Fox, Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projectors, Deradoorian). After a music residency in Berlin where Zinner, Deradoorian, and Fox met up, the first formation of the band was created. Zinner had the idea of bringing the music to NYC (when Truax and Barr joined) where the band received immediate attention and sold out their first concert. It was surprising for everyone, but they just kept on playing, and the people kept on showing up. It's been one of their favorite bands to play in ever. The love of Sabbath has brought so much joy to this group and there's no greater feeling than spreading that joy to fellow fans.
